We live in an instant gratification society. When people want something, they want it fast and now. Unfortunately fast doesn't always mean healthy. Fast food will slowly kill ya. Generally, folks who make commitments in relationships immediately (or push someone to commit sooner than they're ready) fizzle out. Crazy drivers in the fast lane cause accidents. I'm sure you're seeing my point.
When we engage in the fast and furious mentality, we usually end up with a crash and burn outcome; thus being forced to start over anyway. We've all heard the old adage, "Good things come to those who wait." I don't agree with the waiting part. I'm an advocate for getting off your butt and creating change that will last. With that said, here are some ways to jump start change in a healthy manner...
Eliminate Your Emotional Baggage
In order for anything to transform in your life, YOU must transform. Emotional baggage and unnecessary drama not only holds us back, but weighs us down. This is true for being successful in romantic relationships, your career path and for achieving physical weight loss. I speak about clutter all the time. Clutter of the mind bleeds into every area of our lives. In order to eliminate the smelly garbage, one must do the following:
* Have a true desire and be willing to remove what no longer serves a purpose in your mind, heart and home. The desire needs to be greater than the fear.
* Confront any person or situation that is causing you to live inside your head. If you can't speak to that person directly, use the power of creative visualization to find a resolution. Do not focus on the negative, but on the positive vibe you want to feel when you release the situation, otherwise known as forgiveness. The person you may need to confront is yourself, especially regarding bad habits.
* Accept the things you cannot control and find a way to work around it. If you stay focused on yourself and only the major players in your life then outside influences cannot get in the way of your success. This action allows the power to stay where it belongs...with yourself.
Take A Small Step In The Direction Toward Your Destination
Once you've mastered acceptance you'll be ready to take your first step toward happiness in the situation you're focusing on. You should attempt baby steps with things only you can control. The following are just some examples of what you can do.
* If you're unemployed, instead of focusing on the fact you don't have a job, start looking for one.
* If you're single and wanting to date, start accepting invitations from friends you'd normally turn down and/or put yourself in a position to meet new people (new hobby, online dating site, etc...)
* If you're trying to lose weight, slowly change your dietary habits and if you feel you're ready, do home workouts, join a gym or take classes.
* If your home is filled with junk, dedicate some time and throw it all away. Do one room a day if you're really busy.
Maintain Good Mental/Spiritual Health AND Keep A Positive Mindset
Thinking negatively will only keep you in the position you're in now. You will not move forward, no matter what the situation is. People can sense negativity like dogs smell fear. It's an instant vibe we pick up on and nobody wants to have a relationship or work with Negative Nelly.
Visualize yourself being successful, making new connections that match your energy and losing that weight. If you don't, the motivation will be lacking and the Universe will only respond to what your energy is telling it to do. Here are some ways to knock down the negative vibes your Ego is sending.
* When a thought like, "I'll never" pops into your head, stop and rephrase it by saying to yourself, "I will or I am."
* If fear is your problem and you're constantly thinking, "What if", respond to yourself with, "This can't be true if I don't have proof it's actually happening."
* Be more aware of your body language and the "look" you have on your face. When we're inside our heads as we're going about our day, we don't smile much. If we just BE and stop thinking we're more aware of ourselves. Say hi to strangers. Hold doors open for people. When someone speaks to you, stop moving and acknowledge them, again, with a smile.
* Most importantly, remember that change takes time. Gaining 20 pounds didn't happen over night so losing it won't either. Finding a partner that really works for you is a process. Landing a job that meets all your expectations could take a while too. Starting over with a current relationship (friend, family member, spouse, etc...) also comes in phases.
Getting rid of the fast and furious mentality is the best way to attract what you want quicker. Sounds like a contradiction, but it's true. The more faith we have in ourselves and the Universe, the easier it is to achieve greatness. When we let go of our expectations about time, it shows and people will respond favorably to the one who is stable, confident and joyful. Stability, confidence and that joyful demeanor is only real when we make ourselves believe it and feel it on the inside.
